Improve Certificate Management by Adding Free Wildcard Certificate Generation

Is it possible to improve certificate management by adding the capability to generate free wildcard certificates?

I could really use this too, wildcard is only possible from letsencrypt by using DNS challenge, so will require DNS API / Protocols, authentication, etc.

I currently use wildcards using DNS challenge, via RFC2136, using PowerDNS back end.

...btw also security-wise a better choice to use wildcard certs. so yes, please add this feature 🫡
